Old Abe was a national Civil War hero and mascot of the Eighth Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment, later called the "Eagle Regiment." She participated in over thirty battles and was wounded at least once. She was called the Yankee Buzzard" by Confederate troops, who put bounties on her, with one Southern officer calling her  more valuable to Union morale than a dozen battle flags. In 1921, the newly formed 101st Division (later 101st Airborne) chose Old Abe the War Eagle's screaming image for its now iconic insignia.

Old Abe's War Eagle signature cold brew honors her legacy.
